Subject Line
We will now learn about the second part of an email, that is, the subject line. It is the title of an email. The subject line should just be one line long and must convey the central idea of the email.
Now let’s read a few subject lines. How appropriate are these subjects?
The first subject line is not concise. Such a subject can be for any kind of email. Therefore, people might consider it as a spam and may simply ignore it.
The second subject line plainly states ‘Meeting.’ It gives no idea about the content written in the email. It does not inform the reader about the meeting that is being referred.
Even the third subject line does not convey the proper meaning of the email. Does it ask a question about the meeting that has already taken place or that is supposed to occur in the near future?
Even the fourth subject line is not appropriate. It is too long. The learner would probably not check the email and will simply reply to it.
